The Estonian Association of Designer Bookbinders in co-operation with the Estonian Literature Center invites you to participate in the International Exhibition of Artistic Bookbinding Scripta manent V "Young Estonian Poetry" and conference at the Estonian Museum of Applied Art And Design in Tallinn.

The exhibition will be opened on February 12th at 5 pm, 2015 and closed on May 10th, 2015.

With this exhibition we continue the tradition of international bookbinding exhibitions in Estonia. We follow the set practice that all participating artists bind the same collections of text.

This time the exhibition is composed of poetry from the radical Estonian poets shaped by the last years of the 20th century.

222 numbered and 500 unnumbered bibliophile sets of loose sheets, altogether 144 pages in size 170 x 206 mm have been printed for the exhibition. The texts have been printed on Munken Print Cream 115g/m2 paper. The title of the collection is „Names, Words, Witch´s Symbols”. 4x(4+4)x4 = Young Estonian Poetry.

The text consist of four verses by 8 young poets in Estonian, English, German, Hungarian, Russian, Finnish, Italian and French. The collection of poems has been composed end edited by the Estonian poet Jürgen Rooste and the Estonian Literature Center.

The topic „Names, Words, Witch´s Symbols” gives the participants plenty of possibilities to interpret Estonian literature into the form of bookbinding. Classical as well as fantasy-driven bookbindings/-objects are welcome to the exhibition.

The exhibition Scripta manent V is dedicated to Estonian culture. It is an initiative that values poetry through bookbinding - poetry where contemporary sense of life expresses itself in free verse or classical poetry, both ironic and humourous, gentle and rough. The poems deal with life in Estonia and the world's hot spots, things that catch the eye and the ear. (J. Rooste)
